Why Acupuncture?

Acupuncture allows us to reach tissues that our hands physically can't with manual therapy. The insertion of needles into the tissues causes the release of substances that help improve blood flow to areas of tightness and help to decrease sensitivity by affecting the nervous system. Occasionally, electrodes may be added to the acupuncture needles to increase the effect on the neuromuscular system. Acupuncture can be helpful for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Is Acupuncture Painful?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into the skin and the appropriate soft tissues to gain the benefits discussed above. The needles are thin and small and are typically painless. You can expect a slight pinch as the needle pierces the skin and an occasional ache as they settle in. The benefits highly outweigh the minimal discomfort you may experience.
